Favorite School Memory	A band show on the field : after various marching manoeuvres to a catchy well-known tune, the entire band immobilized, flags and all, with a stomp at the climax of the song. Clustered in front of the visiting team's stands, we played this end part, a series of descending scales which, sounded (to me) like iridescent silver drops trickling down multi-colored ribbons that flutter in the breeze. Just like that.: sudden, powerful and beautiful, and the visiting public stands up to thank us for giving them the most beautiful part. Then we give an about face towards the Dalton stands, for the repeat of the trickles...but modulated up a tone, the volume intensifies, adding more brass and more trickles, and the whole effect was so damn beautiful that the Dalton public jumped up as 1 and applauded, enjoying the beauty as much as we did playing it.
