Coeur 'd Alene High School's class of 1980 Johnathan Hillstrand harvests Alaskan King Crab from the ice cold waters of the Bering Sea aboard "Time Bandit"; the iconic crab fishing boat seen on Discovery Channel in the hit reality show "Deadliest Catch".
John and his younger brothers Neal and Andy Hillstrand co-purchased the massive 113 foot 298 ton Time Bandit from their father and together they carry on the Hillstrand legacy of Alaskan crab fishing with John and Andy sharing command as co-captains of world famous ship, .
John Hillstrand is truly an internationally famous celebrity. Having co-written the bestselling book “Time Bandit: Two Brothers, The Bearing Sea, and One Of The Worlds Deadliest Jobs”, John and his brothers are the subject of countless news articles, are often interviewed on television or radio talk shows, and even appear in several nationally broadcast commercial advertisements. They are involved in competitive sports ranging from equestrian barrel racing to automobile racing and their Time Bandit Offshore Race Team sponsors the professional 30 foot super v phantom racer “Time Bandit”. The Hillstrands have also appeared as celebrity guests on game shows and regularly speak to capacity crowds at scheduled appearances in major cities around the world, while remaining available to fans via the internet at the official Time Bandit website. Tthe Hillstrands continue to entertain the world; risking their lives and punishing themselves season after hit season on the epic reality television series: "Deadliest Catch".
From following John Hillstrand in his classic rootbeer brown chevy loaded with ice cold kegs up Canfield in 1980..... to following Time Bandit toward the' "top of the world' on the Bering Sea loaded with a hundred ton of ice cold Alaskan Crab ...over 30 years may have slipped away but, Coeur 'd Alene High Schools John Hillstrand is still the Viking to follow.
