About | Denzel McKnight was born on July 7, 1993, to Latonya McKnight and Carnell Sumter in Miami, FL. He gave his life to Christ at an early age but committed his life back to Christ in early 2015 at Campus Ministry at Mars Hill University. He attended Asheville High and Erwin High School where he graduated in 2012. He also attended one year of college at Fort Scott Community college in Fort Scott, Kansas, and one year of college at Mars Hill University. Denzel was a local entrepreneur in the Asheville community for 5+ years, pursuing a career in the Cleaning & Janitorial Industry. Sourcing contracts with PNC banks, AC Hotel, and Emmanuel Lutheran Community Church and etc. He is proceeded in death by his grandmother Ruth McKnight, Mike and Darnell McKnight (Uncles) Camille and Romona Miller, Fred Pasley (Cousins). Denzel leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother Latonya McKnight, father Carnell Sumter, brothers Terrance, Giovanni McKnight, Carnell, Jordan and Malik Sumner, sisters Kiovanni McKnight, Ashley Blackman, Chelsea Sumner, and Miracle Parker, nephew Giovanni McKnight Jr. aunts Tracy Powell, Bobby Miller, Mary Peterson, Lee and Terry McKnight, La Haldridge Rolle (Edward), Thamasia Sumner, Thomasina Leverman, and Stephanie Morris (Willie), uncles Kenny McKnight, James Mcknight, Pernell Sumer, Derrick Sumner, Aldridge Mitchell (Trina), and Dr. Terry Wright, cousins, and best friends Marques Shelton and Tellas Jones. A Funeral Service to honor the life of Denzel will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Biltmore Church - East Asheville Campus (801 Fairview Rd), at 1pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be held at the Sunset Cemetery immediately following the service. Viewing will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Avery's Memorial Chapel from 1pm - 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page. |
