About	James Edward Blackburn, 79, of Asheville passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville, NC. James was born on June 21, 1944 in Cleveland Co, NC to the late James Arthur Blackburn and Naydean Maness Blackburn. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Germaine Warren. James graduated Clyde A. Erwin Highschool in 1963. He was a manager and buyer both at Byrd’s and Kostas’ Menswear and retired from Kostas’ in 2009 after 25 years. James was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. He was an avid car enthusiast and sports fan (especially the North Carolina Tarheels) and was involved in youth sports programs. James enjoyed volunteering with various ministries at church. Surviving James is his loving wife of 16 years, Margie Harris Blackburn; sons, Mark Blackburn of Asheville, NC, Chad Blackburn (Summer) of Vale, NC; step son, Donnie Foster (Jill) of Asheville, NC; step daughter, Revonda Wooten (Randy) of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Vickie Rogers (Rick) of Leicester, NC; and granddaughter, Michaela Blackburn of Vale, NC. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Freedom Baptist Church, 50 Rice Rd, in Asheville. Dr. Keith Hutchinson and Pastor Kellen Griffin will be officiating.
