About	Shirley Howell Keyes, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Mission Hospital. Shirley was born July 18, 1940, in Buncombe County, to the late Robert Herman Howell and Eva Elizabeth Shroat Howell. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Boyd; daughter, Tina Boyd Thompson; sons, James Roger Boyd and Billy Boyd; and sisters, Alrie Hunter, Annie Silvers and Alice Huskins. Shirley graduated from Erwin High School and enjoyed class reunions and she was a member of the Red Hat Society, The Sassy Hatters. She was a member of the Hendersonville Shrine Club Auxiliary, the Order of Eastern Star, Biltmore Chapter #38, and Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Weaverville. She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband Howard Keyes; sons, Randy Boyd, Ricky Boyd, and Reggie Boyd; step-children, David Keyes, Jimmy Keyes (Cindy), Robert Keyes, Dorothy Bryant (Robbie), Laura Grooms (Randy) and Nita Capps (Tim); sisters, Margaret Griffin (Bill) and Betty Robinson; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lunsford Cemetery, Alexander. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
