About	John S. Maney, 70, of Asheville, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at his home. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Maney was born March 30, 1953 to the late Robert DeVond Maney, Sr. and Katherine Ann Atkins Maney, and preceded in death by his brother Robert D. “Butch” Maney, Jr. A graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School, John was always a kind soul, whether watching over his nephew or making sure visitors felt welcome and experienced authentic North Carolina and had the best location to see an eclipse. John’s consideration for others was matched by his creativity, often expressed in his jewelry making or guitar playing. Survivors include his beloved daughter Kristel Kurtz of Boston, his son-in-law Josef Kurtz and his two grandsons Colin and Nolan Kurtz. A graveside service will be held 10 AM May 22, 2023 at Maney Branch Cemetery in Weaverville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AshevilleMusicProfessionals.com.
