About	David Ronald “Ronnie” Goldsmith, 74, of Leicester, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022. A native of Buncombe Co., Ronnie was a son of the late Connie McGonagle. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sandra King. Mr. Goldsmith attended Erwin High School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, and also formerly worked strip mines in Kentucky, retiring from Martin County Coal. He enjoyed watching UNC Tar Heel basketball. Surviving are his wife, Judy Sizemore Goldsmith; daughters, Penny Jones (Heath) and Debra O’Sullivan (Mark); grandchildren; Hannah Gregg, Jordan Herron, Carlee Gregg, Addison Jones and Cayden Jones; step grandchildren, Taylor and Carter Jones; brother-in-law, Wayne King; one niece and nephew; and his fur babies, Daisy and Buster. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Rev. Garry Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Newfound Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
