About	usie Bell Briggs Runion, 91, of 385 Olivette Road passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. Mrs. Runion was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church. She retired from Clyde A. Erwin High School where she served for more than 20 years in the cafeteria. Susie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend who was loved by all who knew her. In earlier years she enjoyed crafting, traveling and working outside in her yard. She was always happiest when surrounded by her family. Born September 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Sam Rufus Briggs and Fannie Bell Rhodes Briggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband of almost 61 years, Cecil Grey Runion, Jr., who was the love of her life, as well as three brothers, Bo Briggs, Tom Briggs and Frank Briggs and a sister, Ruth Briggs. Surviving are her daughters, Dianne Player (Buddy) of Asheville and Sherry Morris of the home, grandchildren, Tanya Bailes (Brian) of Chapin, SC, Kayce Alford (Paul) of Coatesville, PA and Alan Grey Morris (Natalie) of Mooresville, NC, 5 great grandchildren, Ashton, Kensie, Caroline, Charlotte and Savannah, sister, Ila Mae Stephens of Ninety Six, SC and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, April 11, 2022 at 1 PM at Victory Baptist Church in Asheville with the funeral services immediately following at 2PM officiated by Rev. Brian Furches and Rev. Larry Sprinkle. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory and at other times the family will be at the home on Olivette Road. Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 80 Olivette Road, Asheville, NC 28804. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the family.
