About	Billy Joe Carroll, Jr., age 47 of Marion, NC, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born February 1, 1966 in Buncombe County, NC to Billy Joe Carroll, Sr. and Mary Badgero Carroll both of Asheville, NC. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He formerly worked for Superior Machine in Marion, NC. Billy was a hard worker and liked to build motorcycles and garden. He loved his family and organized many family gatherings. Billy is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Oliver Carroll. In addition to his parents, surviving Billy are his wife of fourteen years, Wendy Baum Carroll of the home; two sons, Shawn Oliver Carroll and Michael Joe Carroll both of the home; one daughter, Miranda Joy Carroll of Old Fort, NC; his paternal grandmother, Dora Carroll of Asheville, NC; his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Mary Ballew both of Asheville, NC; two brothers, James Carroll (Andrea) of Conway, SC and Paul Adam Carroll (Lisa) of Asheville, NC; two sisters, Dorene Carroll Meade (Kent) of Leicester, NC and Lisa Carroll Embler of Hot Springs, NC; many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church in Weaverville, NC with Rev. Steve Rhinehart and Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
