About | Harold W. Rogers March 21, 1936 ~ July 2, 2015 Resided in: Alexander, NC Harold Rogers, 79, died Thursday, July 2, 2015. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Rogers was the son of the late Woodrow B. and Kathleen Clark Rogers. His career as an educator included 36 years at Erwin High School where he taught biology and drivers ed, and where he served as Assistant Principal for 26 years. He was very active in school and extracurricular activities, serving as announcer for sporting events and coordinator for bus drivers. He made many lasting friendships with school administrators, staff members, former students, drivers and members of the community. Erwin High School honored him by naming the administrative building office complex for him. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Rogers Brown and her husband, Dwight, grandchildren, Brock and Bianca. and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Michael McFarland officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
