| Events | Schaefer, Donna L. (nee Wright) Nov 27, 1960 - Oct 22, 2024 Age 63, of Akron, NY. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and daughter of the late Donald and Joan (née Czora) Wright, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Born Donna Wright in Amherst, NY, she was known for her fierce loyalty, sharp wit, and deep love. She graduated from Clarence High School in 1979 and obtained an Associate's degree from Erie Community College in 1981. She built a career in the insurance industry working for Kusch and Kohler Agency, Erie Niagara Insurance and concluding her career at Jellison-Hart Insurance, where she maintained lifelong friends. She was loved and admired for her dedication to helping people both at work and at home. Donna was at her happiest at her lake house in the Adirondacks. When she was younger, she loved riding horses and snowmobiling with her husband. More recently, she liked to spend her time reading and visiting with her children and grandchild. Whether she was completing a crossword at her home, or visiting her children who live far away, she could always spare a hug, a smile, or an amusing quip. Donna is survived by her husband, of 41 years, Randall; three children, Sarah (Benjamin) Ruppert of Clarence, NY, Benjamin (Jessica) Schaefer of Arlington, VA, and Caroline Schaefer of Akron, NY; her grandchild, Beau Ruppert; her three sisters, Rae Marie Smith, Debbie (James) Westley, Linda (James) Weigand; her two brothers, Daniel (Deepa) Wright, and James (Elizabeth) Wright. Donna had a long fight over the last seventeen months with Pancreatic Cancer. She and her family were grateful to everyone who reached out with support and encouragement. We are particularly thankful to nurse Nancy and the Hospice-Buffalo team for their care and for ensuring Donna's comfort through the final stages of the process. A special thanks to Bryan and Darlene Schaefer for their constant companionship and compassion along the way. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Friday, November 1st, at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Peace Church, 10950 Main Street, Clarence, followed by brunch in the Parish Hall. Friends invited. No prior visitation. Please assemble at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice-Buffalo, Inc. or Roswell Park Cancer Institute. |
