Events	It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Craig Masterson, who died peacefully on April 6, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s dementia. Born in Buffalo, New York, Gary was the beloved son of Earl and Harriet Masterson (née Litke). A proud member of the Navy ROTC, he began his academic journey at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago before completing his bachelor’s degree at Cornell University. During his time at IIT and Cornell, he forged lifelong friendships as a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity—a brotherhood that remained close to his heart throughout his life. Gary later earned his MBA from DePaul University and built a distinguished career as a consultant, specializing in the evolving field of call center operations and technology. Beyond his professional life, Gary was passionate about his community and the environment. He remained actively involved with the Delta Tau Delta Alumni Association and contributed his time and insight as a member of the Elgin, Illinois Sustainability Commission. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—sharing time with family, staying engaged with old friends, and giving back to the world around him. Above all, Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Marilyn Masterson (née Wechselberger); his daughter Anne Castro (Masterson); his cherished granddaughters, Mia and Isabel Castro; and his son-in-law, Michael Castro. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Gail Erdmann (Masterson), and her sons, Brian John and Daniel Erdmann. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Harriet, and his brother, Errol Masterson. Gary’s legacy is one of love, commitment, and quiet impact. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
