Events | David F. Pearson August 1, 1949 – May 15, 2025 David passed away in Rochester, NY, after a long struggle to recover from a series of health challenges. Born to Sidney M. Pearson and Mary Alice (Culbertson) in Olean, NY, David was raised in the Buffalo area. He attended GMI (now Kettering) in Flint, MI, and graduated with a materials engineering degree. David was most interested in automobiles. As a child he could identify almost any vehicle on the road. He attended the Indy 500 and Watkins Glen events for years with Jim Edgar, Gary Plasha, and other friends. The same band of friends formed a photography group. David and Jim were also active in supporting the Buick Open golf tournament in Grand Blanc, Michigan, as scoring volunteers in the press tent, in instituting computerized support for operations and marketing, and in multiple other areas. His career with Buick Motor Division and, as a quality engineer and supplier quality/supplier development engineer and manager for General Motors Parts/Service Parts Operations, led him around the country and around the world, working in the Philippines and eventually, from 1996-2002, to China where he was involved in the development of the Buick manufacturing operation in Shanghai, training local engineers and developing suppliers throughout the country. Upon his return to the States, he landed at GM's Honeoye Falls [NY] Fuel Cell research and development facilities where he continued to work with suppliers. After retiring from GM he did contract work in NY and for some years in NC. During his time in Flint, MI, he met and married his wife, Carol McCrellias. Her life was forever changed and she is so grateful for their shared experiences. She loves and misses him. Also remaining behind in loss are brother James Pearson (wife Patty), sister in law Rita Pearson, nephew Charles Pearson Jr,. nieces Melissa Minorczyk (Jason), and Erin Pearson (Adrian Nasr), grand-nieces and nephew Madison, Macie, Mallory, and Theodore, sister-in-law Mary McCrellias, and his valued group of friends which include Steve Perl and Brian Smith, and the aforementioned Jim Edgar. A cherished friend and "Chinese brother," Cao Zi Feng, still resides in Shanghai. David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles Pearson, and friend Gary Plasha. There will be no services. David's remains will be interred at a later date at Mount Olive Cemetery, in Westboro, Wisconsin. |
