Following graduation from West Virginia University in 1971 I married after a three week romance. Divorced after fifty years. I have been fortunate to have experienced a adventurist career as a forester, wildlife biologist, wild land forest fire fighter, a professional canoeist, waterman (commercial crabber on the Chesapeake), Texas cowboy, lobbyist with the Senate and House in DC. I’ve lived in eight states, and worked in forty-nine. Between work and my outdoor pursuits I have waded bayous in the south, spent time in the Rockies, high plains of the west, Canadian wilderness, and the Arctic. I survived a male African lion attack. Now that was different! I’ve slowed down a lot, due to age and more likely common sense kicking in. I now live in the small West Virginia town of Buckhannon, not unlike Mayberry. I expect to see Deputy Barney Fife on the sidewalks writing tickets for jaywalking. This slower pace of life suits me well.
