I knew Carl from first grade through High School. Even saw him for awhile when we were in college, but then he left for Texas. We spent a lot of time practicing as altar boys for Holiday mass. He got in trouble with the nuns for cracking jokes, and a memorable time harmonizing a pop song with the rest of us that even brought the nuns to laugh. We also spent time at Irene's pool hall on Steel Street and goofing around at Kossuth's field. Saw him once when he was visiting from Texas. He said he was doing well, but then I heard he had passed away.
