I served 26 years in the U.S. Navy. I enlisted in Aug. 1970 and went to boot camp in San Diego and then on to 2 welding schools before reporting to my first ship located in Long Beach CA. Went to Viet Nam in 1972 aboard this Repair ship where we repaired many of our ships and also several South Vietnamese ships.
I advanced up the enlisted ranks to Senior Chief Petty Officer(E-8) and then was accepted into the Chief Warrant Officer program after 16 years of service. Retired at the 26 year level as a CWO4. During my career I served on 7 different ships, participated in two wars and went on 12 overseas deployments. My career was centered around welding, metal fabrication , firefighting, damage control and Chemical, Biological and Nuclear Defense. My last 3 tours all involved Firefighting and Damage Control and being a Pacific Fleet Inspector. Served with many great enlisted and officers. After my Navy career I spent 15 years working for one of my brothers in Tucson in New construction plumbing.
I can say that I am very thankful for the opportunity to serve my country. I would serve again if called. Lastly, I say Welcome Home to all my Vietnam Brothers and Sisters!

I served 3 years active and 2 years in reserves. My active duty tour was at the San Diego Naval Hospital as a Hospital Corpsman. My reserve time was in Pomona, California. When I left the service I had the rank of Third Class Petty Officer. It was a pleasure serving in our armed forces. I have very fond memories of my time in the Navy. My experience in the Navy opened many doors for me after my initial enlistment which I otherwise would not have had.
