| About Me | Went to Yale, which I did not like much. Took a break after freshman year to work as VISTA volunteer on a Shoshone Reservation in Nevada. Went to Berkeley and after starting in psychology wound up majoring in Biochemistry. Went to Harvard for Grad School. Got married to Jeanie, we eventually had 3 children, 2 now out of college and the oldest still working on that. Went to England for a Postdoc, got a faculty position at Harvard Medical School. Moved between HMS affiliated institutions, first at HMS, then Dana Farber Cancer Institute, then Center for Blood Research, now Children's Hospital. Do research on cell surface molecules on white blood cells and blood vessels. Have won many awards and prizes (see more from website below). Discoveries led to two currently approved drugs for treating psoriasis, and founded a biotech company that brought two more drugs to the clinic. Got divorced after 23 years. Remarried Chafen in 2001. We have two children, Jeremy born in 2001 and Kayla in 2004. Now building a new, contemporary house in a historic garden in Chestnut Hill featured in a 1926 House Beautiful Magazine article . Working hard, but having a great time. Sports mainly riding my bike to and from work, swimming, some skiing, not enough time to play golf. A reasonable amount of travel for work, and some for fun.
