About | Keith Wigley lived a full life. After Graduating from McClatchy, in June of 1964, he became the manager of the old Westerner Drive-In Theater in Carmichael, CA. When it closed, he was transferred as the manager to the newly built twin outdoor and indoor theater complex near the corner of Mack Road & Stockton Blvd, (where Sam's Club now stands). He was drafted into the US Army in 1965. He completed Army Basic Training at Fort Ord, CA, then helicopter maintence training at Ft Eustis, VA. Upon completion of that training, he was assigned to the 582nd Transportation Company, Aircraft General Support Battalion, in Mannheim, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked nearly 18 months at McClellan, then was hired by the State of California, and worked at the DMV office at 24th & Broadway. He took classes on computer programming, with his GI Bill, and ultimately worked his way up to supervisor, within the Information Systems Division at DMV. He retired from the DMV, after over 30 years of service. Keith was diagnosed with type one diabetes, six months after he was discharged from the Army, and lived the next 45 years, with the help of insulin shots. All those years on insulin, took their toll on his health, and he passed away November 19, 2012. He was laid to rest, with Standard Military Honors, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA. |
