About Me	I've been a political organizer and strategist for four decades. I'm a partner in Democracy Partners, a political consulting firm that works with many of the country's major issue and electoral campaigns. I was deeply involved in the successful campaign to defeat the privatization of Social Security, pass universal health care, reign in the Wall Street banks, end the War in Iraq, and pass the first Obama stimulus bill. Our clients have included labor unions, public interest groups, and advocacy organizations such as MoveOn.org, Americans United for Change, Health Care for America Now, the Center for Democracy in the Americas, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, and USAction. I currently consult campaigns to pass legislation to create jobs, promote progressive budget priorities, and enact comprehensive immigration reform,reign in gun violence - and have worked on hundreds of election campaigns at the local, state and national levels. I published the book "Stand Up Straight: How Progressives Can Win" in 2007 and write regularly for the Huffington Post. My wife Jan Schakowsky proudly represents the 9th Congressional District of Illinois in the US House of Representatives. I have a daughter, Lauren Travers and two step children Ian Schakowsky and Mary Hart. Between them, Ian and Mary have four children - Lucy, Isabel. Will and Eve. Lauren has twins -- Aidan and Alice.
