About Josiah Samuel Houston, born October 11, 1981, in Shreveport, Louisiana passed away much too soon, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and a heart full of love.

He was the cherished son of Michael James Houston and Linda Lamb Seemann, who remember him for his generous spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love for people, music, and animals.

Josiah is preceded in death by his grandparents, Patson and Eudean Houston, and Burl and Eunice Lamb. He is survived by his father, Michael James Houston; his mother, Linda Lamb Seemann and husband, Kurt; his brother, Scott Mason and wife, Andrea; his nieces, Ella and Adelaide Mason; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

From an early age, Josiah was drawn to music. He pursued this passion at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he proudly played tuba in the LSU Tiger Marching Band. Outside of school, he brought his talent to the local rock scene, playing bass for The Jake Tyler Band and sharing music with friends and fans alike.

His compassionate nature led him to volunteer at Yogie and Friends, an animal sanctuary that meant a great deal to him. He had a deep love for animals and shared his home with an unforgettable assortment of pets over the years—snakes, an alligator, fish, dogs, and cats—all of whom were lucky to be part of his world.

Josiah recently returned to school to study Radiologic Technology at Southern University of Shreveport. This endeavor brought a new sense of excitement and anticipation of what his future career would bring.

Josiah lived his life authentically, with humility, curiosity, and a sense of humor that made people feel at ease. In keeping with his generous nature, he chose to become an organ donor through Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA), giving the gift of life to others. As a result of Josiah’s selfless gift, over 75 lives will be saved or enhanced.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to those that helped care for Josiah at Christus Highland CCU and the LOPA team. They also extend a special thank you to Josiah’s friends and coworkers at Red River Chevrolet for their generosity and support in helping him obtain an insulin pump.

A celebration of Josiah’s life will be held at Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation hours will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Friday, May 23, 2025. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Crystal Bobo, Richard Burchett, Jonathon Gates, Roy Lamb, Jeremy Shows, and Charles Zube.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Yogie and Friends in Josiah’s memory. They also encourage everyone to register to be an organ donor at lopa.org.

Josiah will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who have had the privilege of knowing him. His life was one of quiet impact and lasting love—and that is how he will be remembered.
