Sgt Herman mostly for the California and New York Air Guard as a pararescueman; aka PJ. He maintains a residence in Alaska but commuted to NY for world wide missions and training. He terminated his career with the Guard by completeing six years as the NCOIC of the medical section of the 3rd Battalion of the Alaska Army Guard.

James Herrin was born on April 7, 1948. He died on 10/30/1969 from hostile fire in the Republic of Vietnam. He is the only member of the class of 1966 to die from hostile fire. He wa a Specialist-4 at the time of his death.

Our Burlington Community High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Burlington Community High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
