Shannon was killed when he was hit head on by a semi. He was on the way to the Texas A&M campus where he was working on his PhD in Agronomy. He was only a few miles from his home in Rockdale, Texas. He left behind a daughter, Riley Jade, who is now 9. She was just 2 when he was killed. He is greatly missed by his family and friends.
