| About Me | The author of My Trip to the A&P: A Timeless Tale, R Andrew Johnson, is an earthly time traveler just like you. As he moves through his life, he seeks answers to why were here and what's our purpose. His journey began with his birth in El Paso, Texas many years ago. There were numerous steps, stops, and changes in his life along the way. His dad was in the military and it felt like he had castors on his feet, but his family roots are in Pennsylvania. By the time he reached the eighth grade, he decided he wanted to be a teacher. He wished to impact youth in a positive way to improve the human condition. Today, he still embraces these ideals, but in a more realistic way. He now, as an aspiring writer, wants to write compelling novels and essays to move people, despite their heartaches, mistakes, and challenges, by reaching their hearts and minds so they can embrace their self-worth and find a worthy path in life filled with justice, dignity, and hope. Mr. Johnson's journey reached an impactful crescendo when an African American missionary knocked on his door, identified himself, and asked for donations for an orphanage in Mexico; and one more thing, an umbrella in case it rained. Befuddled by his second request, but moved by his genuineness, Andrew gave him what little cash he had and began to search for an umbrella with the help of his five-year old daughter. With regret he told him he couldn't find an umbrella. The man thanked him, turned and left, and stopped at the patio door and looked over his shoulder to give him a special message. It never rained that day, but the three words he left this writer changed his life and the course of the novel he was writing. He lives in Southern California where some say it never rains and the sun always shines. He lives with his wife Marianne and cat Mindy, has two daughters, Lindsay and Katherine, and a grandson Zachary who's an avid t-ball player and loves to fish. I am a retired teacher who earned a master's deg...(read more) |
