Dr. David Mark Grove
Class of 1969
Upon graduation from BHS in 1969, David enrolled at Georgetown college. During his stay at Georgetown, David participated in a wide range of activities including studying acting in New York City, acting in college theater productions, lettered in gymnastics, and made the Dean's list. Upon graduation in 1972, David and his wife Kristy worked for five years in several agencies serving special needs children and adults. David completed his Master's degree from St. Bonaventure in 1979. Upon graduation David was appointed the first director of Bradford's Partial Hospitalization sponsored by Dickenson Mental Health Center. In 1980 David enrolled at Southern Illinois University and was awarded a prestigious four year scholarship consisting of full tuition, on campus married student housing and $1,000 per month non-taxable stipend. In 1982 David was elected membership into Phi Kappa Phi honor society which is awarded to the top 7% of college students in all areas of study in the United States. David graduated at the top of his class in 1984 and was immediately given a faculty appointment teaching research design, statistics & matrix algebra, psychological assessment, and clinical interventions. In 1985 David was appointed Chair of the Psychology/Human Services Department and Director of the first Counseling Center on the campus of Grandview University. In his third year at Grandview, he was promoted to associate professor and was given tenure. In 1989 David opened his private practice in clinical psychology. David began post doctoral work at the University of Iowa in the department of Quantitative & Philosophical Foundations. Upon completion of his studies in 1991 he resumed his private practice and began teaching psychology part-time at a variety colleges including The Medical College of Des Moines University, Mercy College of Health Science, Upper Iowa University, and supervising internships for students from The University of Wisconsin, The University of Iowa, Iowa State University, And Drake University. In 2012 David became Owner and Clinical Director of Compass Clinical Associates PLLC, The largest independent out patient clinic in Iowa employing over 40 people.
