MASHPEE - Lifelong Cape Cod resident George Duane "Dewey" Harrison died Sunday, January 3, at the Royal Cotuit Nursing Center in Mashpee. He was 94.
He was born in Sagamore on January 17, 1921, the son of Maude (Percival) and John L. Harrison. He received his education in the Bourne Schools.
George served his country in the United States Army from September 1940 until his honorable discharge in October 1945.
On April 25, 1948 he was united in marriage to Shirley June Landers and moved to W. Falmouth. Shirley worked for many years as librarian of the West Falmouth Library.
George was employed as a carpenter by his father in law for several years and then at Otis AFB, retiring in 1983.
Preceding George in death were his parents, his wife Shirley, siblings Walter Harrison, Mace Harrison, Horace Harrison, Jennie Randlett, and Evelyn Gries.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA 02532.
Burial, with Military Honors, followed in the Sagamore Cemetery on Sandwich Road in Bourne.
