About	August 10, 2015 Salyan Downing-Fanning 1949-2015 Salyan Downing-Fanning, 66, of East Falmouth passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on July 31st after a long illness. Salyan was born on June 23, 1949 to Frances and Everett Downing of Monument Beach. After graduating from Bourne High School in 1967, Salyan began working for the Bourne Public Schools as a Teacher's Assistant. During her 42 years of working for Bourne, Salyan received her Associates degree from Cape Cod Community College, her Bachelor of Science degree from Bridgewater State University, and her Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. In 1994 Salyan became an Elementary School teacher, most notably at Otis Memorial School. She loved teaching and especially all of the children who came through her classroom during those years. Salyan enjoyed spending time on the beach and boating. She was an inspiration to many and shared her love and kindness in a multitude of ways. Visitation was Sunday, August 9 from 2pm to 5pm at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St, Falmouth. A memorial service was held at the funeral home on Monday at 11am. A private interment was at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Salyan Downing-Fanning's name may be made to Bourne Public Schools in support of the design and installation of an outdoor natural classroom.
