WAREHAM
Anthony R. Cardoza, 78, of Eat Wareham, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 18, at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham.
Born in Bourne, he was the son of the late Manuel J. Sr. and Antonio (Monteiro) Cardoza.
A graduate of Bourne High School, Mr. Cardoza served in the Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Cardoza was employed as a transporter for Martin Mobile Homes in Wareham.
In his youth, Mr. Cardoza was the former middleweight boxing champion at Ft. Bragg, N.C. and also played semi-pro football.
He was a fan of Boston sports and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was the father of the late Mark J. Cardoza.
His funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Route 28, Wareham.
Interment was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visiting hours were from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 23
