Obituary
Lifelong Buzzards Bay resident Melvin J. (Chick) Burns, age 87, died peacefully Wednesday, April 21, at his home.
Chick was born July 8, 1927 in Buzzards Bay, the son of John and Flora (McIsaac) Burns.
He attended Bourne High School before entering the United States Navy. After his discharge from the Navy he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he played football to entertain the troops in Europe.
He enjoyed working in the yard, and on the home he built.
Preceding him in death were his parents, siblings John Burns, Bernard Burns, Russell Burns, and Ethel Dobbins.
A visitation with family was held at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA on Friday April 24 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 AM following the visitation.
