About	Apr. 2, 1996 BUZZARDS BAY -- Joseph Bartlett Whitman, 73, of 16 Old Bridge Road, died Wednesday, March 27, 1996. He was the son of the late Joseph B. and May G. (Wheeler) Whitman. He was born in Mansfield and lived in Buzzards Bay for 70 years. He graduated from Bourne High School in 1941 and then entered the Navy and served in World War II as a signal man, second class, on the USS P.C. 1124 and was in the service for three years. After he left the Navy, he returned to Buzzards Bay in 1945 and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a window clerk for about 28 years. In 1972, he retired from the postal service and he and his wife enjoyed retirement in the town of Buzzards Bay. Mr. Whitman was a member of Elks Lodge in Wareham and the Veterans of Foreign War Post in Bourne.
