About	June Frances (Cassels) McCahill CATAUMET – June Frances McCahill, 90, a retired Tobey Hospital nurse, mother of seven, grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 1, swimmer, gardener, artist and shell fisherman, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her longtime home in Cataumet, MA. She was born June Cassels on June 30, 1922, and grew up on Taylor’s Point in Buzzards Bay, graduating from Bourne High School in 1940. She earned her RN from Massachusetts General Hospital where she met her husband-to-be, John Francis McCahill. They lived in Washington DC and occupied Japan before returning to Cape Cod for good in 1954. Together, they explored nearly all of the Cape’s shore roads and beaches. June loved the water, especially Old Silver Beach and Wild Harbor in Falmouth and Patuisset in Pocasset, and was swimming through last summer. John, her husband of 59 years, died in 2003. Their travels together had taken them to Ireland, all over Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Her sister, Justine Jarvis, predeceased her. A celebration of June’s life was held at the Briarwood Conference Center at 586 Shore Road in Monument Beach overlooking the waters where she went quahogging and oystering. The celebration ran from 4 p.m. to sunset on April 20, 2013. A short ceremony and toast was held at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, give a stranger a smile and donate to the charity of your choice.
