Andy Arnold, '84 BHS, KU professor pens pocket guide to U.S. Constitution

>On Sept. 17, 1787, Benjamin Franklin rose to address a divided Constitutional Convention at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

Franklin, the young Republic's pre-eminent philosopher and scientist, confessed his own misgivings and appealed to hesitant delegates to "doubt a little of (our) own infallibility and make manifest our unanimity."

Andrew B. Arnold, an associate professor at Kutztown University, referenced that passage in the beginning of his new book, "A Pocket Guide to the U.S. Constitution," because it suggests that the document is a work in progress.

Arnold, 44, who teaches constitutional history at KU, hopes his book will foster ongoing discussion of the central document in American history...<
