The Wellington Salvation Army is looking for gently used or like new prom/formal dresses, shoes and/or accessories. With the Christmas break coming up it may be a great time for closets to be checked and these types of items that may not be used again could be donated. Items can be brought to The Salvation Army office at 181 East Herrick Avenue during normal office hours, Tuesday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Donated items will be used for the 2nd annual Operation Fairy Godmother. This event will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wellington United Methodist Church. The event is free and offers High School and Junior High students an opportunity to purchase formal gowns, shoes and accessories for much less than they would at a department or specialty store. Last years event had 24 gowns that were purchased for $10 each and all of the proceeds benefit the Wellington Salvation Army.
Items can be taken to the Wellington office at 181 East Herrick Avenue during normal office hours ~ Tuesday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

1977 Black River Football Team
The 1977 team will be honored at the Medina County Hall of Fame banquet on Thursday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Galaxy in Wadsworth. The team coached by Denny Steinbeck was undefeated and only gave up 26 points during the season. Tickets are $30.00 for the community in advance. They can be purchased by emailing tborror@aol.com.
