Gerry Berthiaume
Class of 1973
A catcher's mitt which was found in Belgium in 1944 and brought back to the United States was given to me in July 2009. After much research and persistence, the mitt was accepted into the World War II artifacts at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. The glove was found by Stanley Pisk in Belgium. He gave the glove to his son, Ted, who, at a New Britain-Berlin, CT Rotary meeting gave the glove to me. It now is in a vault in Cooperstown, NY where it will be forever alongside other World War II baseball artifacts.
