Laura "Lauray" Clegg

Class of 1972

Laura Clegg, who passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2010, was owner and dance instructor at Lauray's Studio of Dance, in Bedford, Ohio for over thirty-five years. She was not only an excellent entrepreneur as a very young woman, growing and sustaining a local business for many years, but she also touched so many lives, both young and old, teaching a love for music and dance. To be able to grasp how many Bedford students she worked with directly is not possible, but to be sure it would amount from hundreds to thousands over this period. She promoted the children and taught self confidence, introducing them to performing on stage during many recitals. All who knew her admired her talents and passion of sharing with others. There are few who better represented Bedford High School in such a direct way, as a young woman to a mature business woman, returning to our community continuously, even planning a last recital during her final days. She definitely has a place with our Distinguished Bedford Alumni.
