Daniel Shawn Kinney, 41, of Kearney, Mo., went to be with Jesus on Feb. 9, 2013.
Dan was born on Oct. 27, 1971, in Austin, Minn., the son of Fred and Joyce (Pleiss) Kinney. He was a 1995 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wis. While attending school, he was introduced to Ann Gardner through a mutual friend, Maggie. Their first date was on Valentine’s Day in 1991. Ann knew she would marry him someday. Over the years, they stayed in touch and eventually reconnected even after he moved to Missouri in 1996. They were united in marriage on Aug. 28, 1999, in Austin, Minn.
Dan was a truly devoted son as well as the most loving and thoughtful husband. He adored his two children, who miss him terribly. His love for his family and our love for him is “indescribable”, said Alison, 11. “He was my favorite person in the house,” said Matthew, 6 1/2. Dan was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Kinney. He leaves behind his loving wife, Ann; daughter, Alison Belle Kinney; son, Matthew Frederick Kinney; parents, Fred and Joyce Kinney all of Kearney; brothers, Steve Kinney and John Kinney; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. We will all miss his laugh and genuine smile.
