Barbara Jo Mortensen, 53, of Austin, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.
She was born July 11, 1951, to Glenn E. and Mildred I. (Paulson) Mortensen in Austin, where she lived her entire life.
Barbara was a dietary aide cook for 33 years at Sacred Heart Care Center. She belonged to VFW Post 1216 Auxiliary, Military Order of Lady Bugs and SEMCAC.
She enjoyed sewing blankets for her grandchildren, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia and Beanie Babies.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda (Anthony) Earles, Austin; four grandchildren; brother, David (Molly) Mortensen, Sr., Austin; sister, Nancy (Julian "Jay") Jessen, Austin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation: One hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial Service: 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jonathan Law officiating.
Interment: 3 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
