| Favorite School Memory | Being able to come back to school after being hospitalized for a broken leg (which I managed to do on a Ski Club trip to Keystone). The crutches were a bit awkward in the hallways but I was happy to be back with my friends. |
| About Me | I attended Colorado State and graduated with B.S. in zoology and psychology. After working in Pueblo for two years with people with developmental disabilities, I moved to Ames, Iowa to pursue a doctorate in counseling psychology. While in grad school, I met my partner, William (over a computer network in 1980). In 1982, we both moved to Austin, Texas so I could complete a predoctoral internship at the UT Counseling and Psychological Services office. That position led to an appointment in the counseling center at Western Connecticut State in Danbury, CT. I worked there for five years. While there, I helped to revitalize a telephone crisis hotline for LGBT folks and co-founded an HIV Helpline in Danbury. I also edited a monthly newsletter for a local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organization and won a national award for my "journalism" efforts. Then, we moved to Chicago so my partner could attend library school. I worked as a counseling psychologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)’s Counseling Center for several years. Then, I was tapped to create an office to serve LGBT students and staff at UIC. I served as director of that office for five years and then moved on to a series of positions at Rush University working on accreditation and assessment needs of their colleges and of the university as a whole. I cofounded a new office at Rush (University Assessment and Student Learning). That led to being recruited to be the Executive Director for Regional Accreditation at Kaplan University. I retired from that position and now spend time volunteering and traveling. We moved to Santa Fe in the fall of 2022. In 2011, my partner and I finally legally solemnized our then 31-year long relationship with a civil union ceremony, once that become legal in Illinois.
