Polk, turned down appointment to west point. at end of basic turned down orders for ocs snd woes to be an aircraft mechanic on mohawks. too many mech so went to air traffic control school in mississippi, it at Ft Rucker then 366 days in RVN made sp5 in 14 mo's after enlistment. After viet nam went to Ft Bragg NC, was NCOIC at flight standards for Simmons army air field. got out 11 jun 70.....

During 22 years of active flight duty deployed 14 times, performed 7 rescues, and logged more than 15,000 flight hours. Retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

Military service was spent in Air Defense Artillery in Texas, Italy, and Vietnam. Additionally, served in Germany, Italy, and Greece as Battery Commander, Air Defense Group, Nike-Hercules Missile System a Nuclear Weapons Delivery System and Chief Battery Evaluator for Allied Air Forces Central Europe. Served at Hurlburt Field AF Florida as Air Defense Artillery Instructor and Chief, Computer Information Center at Ft Hood Texas.
Retired from the US Army as a Major in 1986 with 9 ribbons/medals.
My military service benefited me with 3 degrees; Aerospace Engineering with highest honors (Univ of Texas), Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Univ of Texas), and Master’s in Business Administration (Univ of West Florida)
