Entered the USAF in July 1975 and retired July 2005. Served five years in the administrative career field before retraining into the legal services (paralegal) career field. Rose through the enlisted ranks to the grade of Chief Master Sergeant. Assignments included Chanute AFB, IL, Clark AB, Republic of the Phillippines, Tinker AFB, OK, RAF Lakenheath, UK, RAF Mildenhall, UK, Wurtsmith AFB, MI, Randolph AFB, TX, Nellis AFB, NV, Hickam AFB, HI, and Bolling AFB, DC. Final assignment was as the Command Paralegal Manager for the Air Force Legal Services Agency.

My draft number was #46, and I opted to do the extra year in the Army, rather than risk getting drafted and potentially sent to Viet Nam ! After basic training at Fort Ord in Monterey California, next stop was the Army medical training center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas, I was a Dental laboratory Technician, and eventually went on to be an oral surgery technician / assistant, at Fort Sill in Lawton Oklahoma. No regrets about all of that experience in the military, it kept me from being shipped overseas. Those of us in the Army medical corps, had it pretty cushy. Honorable discharge and was a Spec 4.
