Actually it was 18 months. In the 70's if you were female and pregnant you were automatically discharged from the service. There were no maternity uniforms, and the discharge was honorable if you were married and general if you were not. How times have changed, huh?

Left the Army, joined the Navy - saw the east coast, the west coast (just California) then headed off to Alaska. Was stationed in Anchorage, (beautiful), Adak, (Wild!!!) and even took a military transport plane out to the island of Attu - it is the farthest you can go and still be on American soil. It was stunning!
