Reunion news! Hello to the Arundel High Class of ‘71! Hop over to our Facebook page "Arundel High class of 71" to take our poll. As you know, we were not able to go through with our plans for our 50th reunion last year due to Covid.
However, we have been very graciously approached by the Class of ’72 50th Reunion committee to gauge our Class’s interest in combining forces for a joint Class of ‘72 and Class of 71 50th reunion event. This would be similar to our last event when we combined our reunion with the Class of ’70.
The Class of ‘72 has made significant progress in planning for their event. It’s tentatively scheduled for Friday October 7, 2022 at the Blackwall Barn and Lodge (the old Kauffman’s restaurant) in Gambrills.
Our planning committee can see several advantages to this combined event. It goes without saying, we as the Class of ’71, made good friends growing up with the folks of the Class of ‘72 and this would be an excellent opportunity to reconnect with many of them; some of whom we have not talked to for 50 plus years! The ’72 event planning has already begun and so our committee would be able to help with the details as well as take advantage of the momentum already created by the Class of ’72. And by having a much larger base of folks to draw from, meeting the minimum number of guests will be a much smaller challenge. Finally, with the event on a Friday, that could allow for an informal Class of ’71-only event for Thursday, October 6 or Saturday, October 8.
But, combining the events does come with some drawbacks. First, the venue is not associated with a hotel so it’s not as convenient as our last event for out-of-town guests or for those who may require a designated driver. Next, the cost is $105 per person which is a bit higher than the $65 tickets we had for our last event.
The Class of ’72 planning committee would like an answer very soon if we will be joining them on Oct 7, so we need to hear from you, the Class of ’71 if you would like to attend the combined event. Since we are under a time constraint so as not to slow down the Class of ’72 planning efforts, I would ask that you let our committee know your thoughts by no later than next Thursday April 21.

For those of you who are ready to commit to lunch at Phillips (Inner Harbor) on Saturday June 2, 2018 and/or to Orioles-Yankees baseball at 4 pm same day, here is the revised cost: lunch $28; baseball $43. I have bought 20 baseball tickets, but will buy more when I know what the participation level will be. I have uploaded a form for you to pre-fill before calling. For either choice, I will need an address to mail you a meal voucher(s) and/or baseball ticket(s). Exciting news: the lunch at Phillips Seafood on June 2nd has now been expanded to a 4-hour party still with lunch but also with open bar providing wine and beer, indoors, still at Phillips Seafood from noon till four, thanks to Peter Converse and others who have worked to make our 50-year class reunion even more special. And no increase in price, still $28 per person! The baseball game starts at four, so those who have bought tickets can still make the game. By the way, I still have baseball tickets in section 324 for $43 each, so send me a check or call in to 361-543-4666 and I will take your credit card info then send you your printed ticket. And I can't wait to see everyone!!!

Our Reunion is planned for the weekend of July 22nd and 23rd in the Odenton/ Ft Meade area. We are doing a casual Friday night, July 22nd from 7:00 to close in the back bar area at Jim's Hideaway. This event will be a come and go evening where each guest is responsible for their own food and drink consumption. We will have a Dinner/ Dance on Saturday July 23rd from 6:00 to 11:00 at Club Meade that is Business/ Dressy. Our theme is "A Night of Zen" it will be a dinner buffet with dancing and a cash bar. Dinner will be served from 7:00 to 8:00 SHARP, due to food safety issues. Saturday will be a ticket only event and NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR. If you have not pre-purchased a ticket you will not be allowed entrance into the facility.....You have to be on the guest list to be permitted access to Ft. Meade...no ticket no access... ALL TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED BY JULY 14th. YOU MUST HAVE A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID TO GET ONTO FT MEADE. You will also have to tell them your name at the gate, show your ID and they will check it against the guest list they will have. Entrance is at the guard gate at Reece Road and Rt 175 ONLY!
