David A. Scheid
Class of 1966
Army, 3 Years
Service from Sep 1970 - Sep 1973.
Russian Linguist in the Army Security Agency.
Served on the East / West German border for 17 months from 1972 - 1973.
Lived in a building built in 1671! No heat, no hot water. Windows couldn't close. Walls 8" thick and the door 5'8" high! The beams were 5'10" high! It was build for the people at that time.
It got colder inside than out during the winter.
The town had 17,000 people. Hasn't changed. Everyone over 18 leaves for the cities. Pretty boring most of the time. The local beer was great!
