Sister Connection is an organization birthed from the pains of decades of war leaving many widows and orphans; an orphan is a child without a father in Burundi. The organization seeks to help lift widows and their children out of the depths of poverty and social shame to a life of dignity through Christ, sponsorship, microenterprise training and ultimately self-sufficiency.

When our family served in Burundi in August of 2022, Sister Connection began a building project for a multipurpose missionary house, and they asked our family to be their first tenants for a year or longer to help in the following areas:

• Teach English classes for Sister Connection staff, translators, widows, and orphans.
• Be a bridge of cultural communication between the U.S. Board and Burundi Sister Connection staff.
• Help develop outline/ideas for theologically sound camp curriculum.
• Weekly Bible study for community kids and Gospel outreach.
• Visiting widows and orphans specifically unsponsored to help tell their story.
• Help develop a literacy program for widows and orphans who are illiterate.
• Biblical Counseling training to Sister Connection social workers.
• Young men orphan’s retreats and discipleship opportunities to encourage them to live Biblically.
• Help manage the enterprises at Mt. Hope (coffee, tea, moringa, etc.)
• Serve in various other ways as a family.
• “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27

Beginning in January of 2024 we will be traveling intensively for support raising and will be going to Africa for 2 weeks April 1-14 to help with various projects and begin moving our many personal items over. We leave July 2024!
