About Me | " He who reigns within himself and rules his passions, desires and fears is more than a King." I AM A KING ON A MISSION!!!!!!!! Ja'un A. Bennett Sr. a.k.a. Royalty, Son of the King was born on the eastside of Indianapolis, Indiana. He lived in the Brightwood area until he was eight years old when his mother moved them to Blackburn Terrace Apartments, better known as The Baltimore Projects or Da Balt. One of his first songs, "Neva", was a testimony inspired by some of the hardship and pain he went through growing up in the heart of one of the worst projects in Indianapolis. Desiring the wealth that the world possessed, he began stealing and eventually was initiated into a gang in the seventh grade. He was involved in a lot of sports growing up through middle school and high school which kept him occupied for a while, but eventually the fast life started calling him and he dropped out of high school in only the tenth grade and started getting schooled by the streets. He began selling drugs, which led to several near death experiences, the Marion County Jail, and other things, which he regrets still. Now, he is walking with God. He uses all of his life experiences as a testimony to influence and inspire. He continues to motivate young men and women in the prisons, juveniles and the streets so they don’t make his same mistakes. He has been blessed with three beautiful children and they are his heart. He has produced a documentary, featuring Dr. Marvin Sapp, titled "From the Streets to the Kingdom," and as of June 5, 2010 has also released a Gospel Soul Rap Album of the same title. He is featured on the nationally acclaimed Holy Hip Hop Volume 10 Compilation CD, which was released on November 22, 2010. His song Devil Tried to Take My Soul was voted unanimously to be the opening track of this upcoming project. On May 14, 2011, it was publicly announced that Royalty would be joining Camp 8 Records alongside the legendary Gospel Gangstaz, as their newest artist on their label. He has moved as a very independent force throughout his music career starting his own ministry along with producer Matthew Franklin, and political leader and community activist, Terry Dove, StrongCord Music Inc. and currently has filmed 4 videos. Which one of them is in regular rotation on the IMC T.V. Broadcast, which airs daily. Each of his videos has progressed to another level, leading to the most anticipated mini movie music 2 video "From the Streets to the Kingdom" which dropped July 5th, 2011 and blew the minds of some critics due to its high quality definition, and its plot and storyline. Viewers are saying it is a gospel "classic" video. Royalty has since released the official video for “Conquer Everything,” to be released on his upcoming album this summer and will release the second video from the upcoming album titled “Talking Loud,” which features Bushwick Bill from the legendary “Ghetto Boys.” Royalty, Son of the King, is an accomplished actor, starring in the "Kiladelphia" stage play, which traveled across the United States. He has been interviewed on TBN on two separate occasions, once by his pastor, the PCAF presiding Bishop Lambert Gates, Sr., who airs on the Word Network Sunday mornings. He is a preacher and minister of the Gospel at his home church, Mt. Zion Church of Indianapolis, IN. He believes that gospel rap should not be a tool to glorify self, but to preach someone's soul into salvation! He doesn't call his ministry gospel rap; he calls it gospel soul rap, as the music he renders reaches down into the depths of the soul, drawing people into a relationship with Jesus Christ. With his strong passion for souls, he continues to minister, even partnering with the PTM, which is a crime intervention movement, focusing on positive reinforcement’s verses violent retaliations and gang wars. Royalty, Son of the king, doesn't only minister on the microphone, but on every block and in every hood, desiring for souls to be changed and lives transformed until the streets cry out "what must I do to be saved?" Currently, Royalty has taken back to the studio working on his next much anticipated album, "Reign," which will feature great artists such as Bushwick Bill, from the legendary group “Ghetto Boys” the legendary “Gospel Gangstaz&r...(read more) |
