Richard was confirmed to be decease at his class' 55 year reunion.
Here is part of the obituary: "A native of CA, age 54 years, and a mechanical designer. He was an active member of the Long Board Union, the Big Stick Surf Club, a member of the St. Francis Yacht Club, an avid ocean and San Francisco Bay Sailor (sailing on numerous winning boats), and a member of the Millimeter Fleet. He was also an award-winning and he had been surfing the day before he died."
