Gordon was a classmate and friend. Like many of us in 1968, we were either drafted or enlisted in the service for Viet Nam. Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Army late 1968. He had been in Viet Nam only a week or two when he was shot and killed in action. There was an article in the Valley Courier newspaper regarding his death and the circumstances. I believe this was June 1969, as it was shortly before I left for Navy bootcamp. Gordon's passing upset me greatly as I lost a friend and left me unsettle as I was also leaving for military service shortly. Gordon was the first classmate from the Class of 68 we lost.
