About Me	I was born in Spring Place, North Georgia at the foot of Fort Mountain. My family tree is essentially there, for both sides of my family. My ancestors were farmers for many years back. My great, great grandmother was a Cherokee Indian, native to that area before the Trail of Tears, which she somehow avoided, perhaps by marriage to my Scottish ancestor. My parents were educators, but we lived on a small farm and dabbled a bit into farm activities such as dairy and chickens. Despite this early history, I call Augusta, home , having lived here since the age of 14. My home was in Vineland, a small community, bordering the Augusta National. I attended St. Mark Methodist Church just down the street, rode the city bus most everywhere and graduated from ARC in 1958. Following that, I graduated from Augusta Juinor College in 1960 and married that same year. A few years later, I continued college at Georgia College in Milledgeville in preparation for becoming a teacher. My husband's jobs carried us to several other locations, including Macon, Ga., then Knoxville, Tennessee. Following the birth of my son, we moved back to Augusta, where I pursued several graduate degrees in educational administration at Augusta State. I served as principal of several schools, including Gracewood Elementary and charter principal of Goshen Elementary before retiring in 1997. In addition, I served as assistant principal at several otber scbools as well as a number of years as classroom teacher. My second career is real estate. I presently serve as Realtor with Blanchard and Calhoun. Until recently, I served as Site Agent at Northridge, a new construction neo-traditional community in Evans. This has allowed me to add this experience in building/buying new homes to many years of experience in the resale market. I also am designated as a Senior Real Estate Specialist. (SRES). See my FB business page, Harriet Roney, Augusta Realtor for more information. Much of my non-work time is spent in participation and volunteer activities at my church, Wesley United Methodist Church. I am also involved in a civic club, AMBUCS; a fun group of ladies, The Red Hats; Richmond County Retired Educators; Delta Kappa Gamma, an educator's group and several other volunteer activities. After almost 50 years of marriage, I am now single. I enjoy family time with my son and grandson, cooking their favorite foods, supporting them as mother/grandmother and sharing a major part of my life with them. I am blessed with many friends from all walks of life, past and present! Some very special close friends are what keeps me going! One of my favorite activities involves a recent purchase I made on a whim. Even though I had not touched a piano since age 14, I decided to buy one. Amazingly, I discovered that the music I knew then is still with me and I can play most anything I wish. Most of my music is Christian based, old hymns and some newer gospel songs. One of my goals is to stay physically fit which involves daily walking and going to the gym for weight lifting machines and cardio activity. And I like cats. There have been many in my life.
