About	Gordon passed away last January after suffering 10 years from colon disease and ultimately congestive heart failure. He spent some years working for the family business, The Office Store on S. Main in Council Bluffs, Iowa Power and Light, and as an electrician. In his last year and a half, he made his home on Rathbun Lake and continued to work on all things mechanical. He is the brother of Christine Smith, class of 1974. His ashes were interred with his parents, Gordon and Dorothy Smith, at Walnut Hill Cemetery in June.

Gordon was one of my earliest childhood friends. I remember he had an old Pushman cart that he would fix and ride around in when the rest of us rode mini bikes. I always thought it was kind of cool when Gordon would give me a ride in his Pushman. I remember one time at Gordon‘s house when his parents were away we were taken swig out of his parents’ liquor cabinet. That’s the first time I realized I like gin. Fond memories.
