Jerry Lee Herbek went to be with his Lord on February 5th, 2022, at the age of 72. He passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife and family.

Jerry was born to John E. and Dorothy Herbek of Zion, IL, on November 19th, 1949, in Kenosha, WI. Baptized into Christ at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha, WI. Confirmed his faith at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Zion, IL, on June 2nd, 1963.

Jerry graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School on June 6th, 1967. He went on to Wisconsin Lutheran College and graduated June 1st, 1969. He continued on at (Dr.) Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. He graduated from Cameron University in 1987 with a degree in Computer Science & Math.

He met the love of his life, Kathryn in 1967 at the October Reformation Festival held at Wisconsin Lutheran High School. They were married March 18th, 1972, and went on to have seven children, Katie, Jennifer, Jerry Jr., Timothy, Heidi, Michelle and Miriam.

Jerry served in the Unites States Army enlisting in May of 1976, commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in June of 1977 and retired in May of 1996 at the rank of Major. His time in the Army brought his family around the United States and Germany, forming lifelong friendships. After exiting the military, he worked in Quality Assurance with Software/System Testing at various companies including Honeywell, Medtronic, Motion International and Schwann's. He ended his working career by team driving with wife, Kathryn, across the United States.

Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. Jerry joins parents, John E. and Dorothy Herbek; sister Joanne Johnson; daughter, Heidi Herbek in Heaven. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Kathryn. Lovingly remembered by children Katie (Erickson), Jennifer, Jerry Jr., Timothy, Michelle (Adams) and Miriam (Vo), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren
