Our beloved Jeffrey (“Jeff”) David Eklund, 24, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He was born on November 6, 1992 in Libertyville, IL, the son of Jeff and Connie (Taylor) Eklund. He attended Beach Park schools and graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 2011.
Jeff was a talented, passionate musician and loved playing the guitar, drums, singing, and writing music. He was involved in several bands and sang and played on the worship team at church for many years. He was an excellent cook and loved sharing good food with friends and family. He was a dog lover and never met a dog he didn’t love, especially his beloved pitbull, Meatloaf Miller. He will always be remembered for his caring attitude, generosity, and compassion for others. He was known for going the extra mile to help a friend and encouraging others who were struggling. Jeff never knew a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, hugs, and great laugh.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Ila Eklund; and his Uncle Tim (Jennifer) Eklund. He is survived by his parents - Jeff and Connie Eklund; his sisters Cortney (Mark) Ostrander and Ashley (Brett) Swords; his nieces Audra Ostrander and Jovie Swords; his nephew Wyatt Ostrander; grandparents, Larry and Joan Taylor; great-grandmother, Lulaine Henderson; girlfriend, Samantha Bagley; Uncle Dave (Terese) Eklund; Uncle Richard (Nancy) Eklund; Aunt Cynthia (Jim) Carlson; Uncle Robert (Mitten) Taylor; and many cousins.
